Sir David Gill
Born in Aberdeen, Scotland in 1843, while at university he was taught by James Clerk Maxwell, Gill would spend most of his astronomical career in South Africa where he undertook measuring astronomical distances,and pioneered astrophotography, he took the classic photographs of the great comet of 1882.
