Great Comet of 1811
H. Flaugergues (Viviers, France) discovered this comet in
the evening sky on March 25, 1811, in the now defunct constellation Argo Navis.
The Great Comet of 1811, was visible to the naked eye for around 260 days, a
record it held until the appearance of Comet Hale–Bopp in 1997.
