Aurora 7 and Scott Carpenter

 Astronaut Scott Carpenter (1925-2013) was the second American astronaut to orbit the Earth when he was launched on March 24^th 1962 in the Aurora 7 capsule. This was part of the Mercury project.

On July 16^th 1964 he  lost control of his motor cycle while riding in Hamilton, Bermuda and broke his arm.  The accident removed him from the active list of NASA astronauts and he resigned from NASA on August 10^th 1967.
