The Perth Meteorite May 17th 1830
A
small meteorite fell on May 17th 1830 in a field known as
North Inch at Perth, Scotland. A part of the meteorite was recovered and was about 7 inches wide. The only record astronomers have
comes from a Dr Thomson of Glasgow who says that during a
thunderstorm on May 17th a meteorite fell at around 30
minutes after midday.
It
was a stone meteorite and sadly since its fall in 1830 most of the
meteorite has been lost and only around 2 grammes survive today.
