I came across a reference to the Rev Robert Curteis Hubbersty (1815-1905) of Cartmel in what was North Lancashire but now Cumbria who in 1865 purchased a 4.5 inch telescope from Thomas Cooke & Sons.
I have not come across any references to any observational work that he may have done with the telescope.
