Astrognome A-Z of Constellations # 41 Horologium


Horologium the Pendulum Clock Southern Hemisphere
A faint constellation in the southern sky invented by La Caille in 1752, it is a shame that a constellation trying to represent something so important as the clock should be represented by such a faint and obscure constellation.
Alpha with a magnitude of 3.9 and is an orange K2 class giant star lying at a distance of 115 light years.
