First asteroid discovered in South America in 1901

 On the 14^th August 1901 the asteroid Ocllo was discovered by D Stewart at the Arequipa observatory. The asteroid was named after the first Inca queen who was considered by tradition to be the daughter of the Sun. 

In addition this was the first asteroid discovered in South America and also the first discovered in the southern hemisphere.
