Yuri Gagarin
On April 12th
1961 Yuri Gagarin became the first person to go into space. Gagarin traveled into space in the Vostok 1 space craft. He completed one orbit of the Earth and
was in space for 1 hour and 48 minutes.
He was born
in Russia on 9th March 1934 and died on 27th March 1968
when the aircraft he was flying crashed during a training exercise.
